BERWICK, Maine - Stanley H. Leavy Jr. passed away at home in Berwick, on Sunday, October 28 after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife, family and loved ones. He was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Stanley H. Leavy Sr. and Betty Lou (Alberts) Arrington. Stan graduated from Loyalsock High School in 1965 and Lock Haven University in 1974.


Stan is survived by his wife Melissa (Harrington) Leavy, five daughters and their husbands; Stephanie (Mark) Galarneau, Michele (Kevin) Wood, Janette (Tim) Plaisted, Deanna (Scott) Hanson and Sharon (Craig) Hegarty.


Stan and Melissa married in 1987 and recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Together they developed a mutual love for hiking, fishing, canoeing, camping and traditional archery. They have passed on their love for traditional archery to all of their grandchildren.


Stan is also survived by his five siblings; Kathy, Donna, Cal, Darren and Gary; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his great friends from the Tuesday night men's group, his best friends Grant (Sonny) Thorne and Scott Wensley as well as all of his friends at the cancer and Tai Chi exercise classes at the Works in Somersworth, N.H.


A memorial service will be held at First Parish Church at 218 Central Avenue, Dover, N.H. 03820 on Saturday November 3 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow.
